Dan Popovici was born in Bacau, Romania, in 1951. He studied Glass Art in the Institute of Fine Arts ”N. Grigorescu” in Bucharest between 1970 - `75. Next, until 1978 he worked in the Glass Factory of Tg. Jiu as glass-designer, also making artistic experiments concering the glass. In this period he participated at the International Exhibition „Coburger Glass-preis” (Germany `76) and his works has been selected by the Corning Museum of Glass in the catalogues „New Glass” in `77 and `78. Since 1979 Dan Popovici is teaching at the National University of Arts – Bucharest. He is a member of Romanian Artists` Association from 1982. The artist exhibited his works in three personal exhibitions, participated in several National Exhibitions and Symposiums and at many International Exhibitions: Coburg, ”Glass Kunst” Kassel, Munchen, Erfurt / Germany, ”The International Exhibition of Glass”, Kanazawa / Japan, „Zentralschweizer Glass-preis” Luzern/ Swisserland, Montreal / Canada, “International Ceramic & Glass Exhibition”, Eskişehir / Turkey, “International Bennale of Glass”, Sofia / Bulgaria, International Biennale of Ceramics & Glass, Haacht, Belgum
